From Proto-Turkic *s-e-niŋ; equivalent to си- (si-, stem of the second-person singular pronoun) +‎ -нің (-nìñ, genitive suffix). Cognate with Shor сеең, Tuvan сээң (seeñ), Southern Altai сениҥ (seniŋ), Kyrgyz сенин (senin), Kazakh сенің (senıñ), Turkish senin, etc.
