Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic съкровище (sŭkrovište). By surface analysis, сокры́ть (sokrýtʹ, to hide, cover) +‎ -ище (-išče).

Compare typologically Proto-Germanic *huzdą (whence English hoard) < Proto-Indo-European *(s)kewH-.
