Erzya[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly derived from Proto-Finno-Ugric *čeŋke (steam, mist (or) warm), whence Finnish henki (breath; soul), Estonian hing (soul), Udmurt ӝог (džog, heat), Northern Mansi саӈк (saňk).
