[edit]Borrowed from Parthian 𐫀𐫍𐫀𐫡 (ʾhʾr /āhār/, “food”), ultimately from Sanskrit आहार (āhāra, “food”). Compare with Sogdian 𐼾𐽁𐼰𐼳𐼰𐽀𐼷𐼷 (pšʾhʾryy /pašāhārē/, “post-food (lit.), dessert”) and 𐼻𐼰𐼳𐼰𐽀 (nʾhʾr /nāhār/, “un-food (lit.), hungry”)
