Etymology

Probably through Classical Syriac ܐܘܢܩܝܐ‏ (ʾūnqīyā) from Ancient Greek οὐγγία (oungía), οὐγκία (ounkía), from Latin uncia (ounce, twelfth part), from ūnus (one).
