Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bẹken- (to feel joy, appreciate; to strive, hope); cognate with Azerbaijani bəyənmək, Chuvash пикен (pik̬en), Karakhanid [script needed] (biken-) and Turkmen begenmek.
