From Middle Persian tʾcyk' (Tāčīk, Tāzīg, “Arab”), from Arabic طَيِّء (ṭayyiʔ, “name of an Arab clan”). Compare Classical Syriac ܛܝܝܐ (Ṭayyāyāʾ, “Arab”).
