Inherited from Prakrit 𑀚𑀼𑀯𑀇 (juvaï), from Sanskrit युवति (yuvatí, young woman). Cognate with Bhojpuri जोइ (jōi), Hindustani جوئی / जोई (joī), Nepali जोइ (joi), and Romani ʒuvli.
