Etymology

From Middle Persian ‘wsk’l-tn' (uskārdan, to think, consider). Ultimately a derivation of Proto-Indo-Iranian *kar- (to do, make, construct).
Related to نگاشتن (negâštan, to write, to inscribe), کردن (kardan, to do, make, fix), etc..
