[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kančïk (“bitch; female”); cognate with Azerbaijani qancıq, Bashkir ҡансыҡ (qansıq), Kazakh қаншық (qanşyq), Kyrgyz канчык (kancık), Southern Altai канчык (kančïk) and Turkmen ganjyk.
