Borrowed from Turkic. Compare Turkish kurbağa (frog), Azerbaijani qurbağa (frog), Uzbek qurbaqa (frog).

Largely displaced Iranian terms for "frog" such as وک (vak), inherited from Middle Persian, and غوک (ġuk) and چغز (čaġz), both from Sogdian.
