[edit]From Aramaic כַּמֹּונָֹא / ܩܰܡܽܘܢܳܐ (kammōnā, “cumin”), from Akkadian 𒌑𒁷𒊺𒉪 (Ú.GAMUN /kamūnu/, “cumin”). Note also Old Armenian չաման (čʻaman).
