[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺 (muṭṭhi) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit मुष्टि (muṣṭi), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *muštíš (“fist”). Doublet of مُشْت (muśt). Cognate with Punjabi ਮੁੱਠ (muṭṭha), Bengali মুঠা (muṭha) and Persian مشت (mošt).
