[edit]Inherited from Middle Hindi ناتی (naty /nātī/),[1] from Apabhramsa णत्तिअ (ṇattia), from Old Hindi नांती (nāṃtī /nā̃tī/), from Prakrit 𑀡𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺𑀅 (ṇattia), from Sanskrit नप्तृ (naptṛ) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-).
