Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yüŕük (ring) and thus related to اوزنگی (üzengi, stirrup); cognate with Azerbaijani üzük, Bashkir йөҙөк (yöźök), Chuvash ҫӗрӗ (śĕrĕ), Kazakh жүзік (jüzık), Kyrgyz жүзүк (jüzük), Tatar йөзек (yözek), Turkmen ýüzük, Uyghur ئۈزۈك (üzük), Uzbek uzuk and Yakut сүһүөх (sühüöq).
