[edit]Inherited from Aramaic בּוּטְמָא (buṭmā), from Akkadian 𒌑𒁍𒌓𒉡 (buṭnu), from Sumerian 𒁍𒌓𒉡 (/budnu/); compare Arabic بُطْم (buṭm, “terebinth”) and Hebrew בֹּטֶן (bóten, “peanut”).
