Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀡𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀢𑁆𑀢 (ṇakkhatta), from Sanskrit नक्षत्र (nakṣatra). Cognate with Sinhalese නැකත (nækata).
