[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀟 (aṃḍa), from Sanskrit अण्ड (aṇḍá), आण्ड (āṇḍá), or अण्डक (aṇḍaka). Doublet of आँड़ (ā̃ṛ). Compare Nepali अण्डा (aṇḍā), Punjabi ਆਂਡਾ (āṇḍā), Sindhi آنو / आनो, Gujarati ઈંડું (ī̃ḍũ), Marathi अंडे (aṇḍe), Konkani अंडें (aṇḍẽ), Chittagonian আণ্ডা (aṇḍa), Bengali আণ্ডা (aṇḍa).
