From अन्- (an-, un-, not) + *अक्ष् (*ákṣ), from Proto-Indo-European *h₃ókʷs (eye). See also अक्षि (akṣi).

      प्रति॑ श्रो॒णः स्था॒द् व्य्॑ अ॒नग् अ॑चष्ट॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श् चकार ॥
      práti śroṇáḥ sthād vy anág acaṣṭa sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra.
      The cripple stood erect, the blind saw them. These things Indra did in the passion induced by Soma.
