Borrowed from Classical Persian اِنْجِیل (injīl), from Arabic إِنْجِيل (ʔinjīl), from Ancient Greek εὐαγγέλιον (euangélion). Compare Bengali ইঞ্জিল (injil), Tamil இஞ்சீல் (iñcīl).
