[edit]Inherited from Prakrit *𑀇𑀁𑀤𑀉𑀭 (*iṃdaüra), *𑀇𑀁𑀤𑀯𑀼𑀭 (*iṃdavura), 𑀇𑀁𑀤𑀧𑀼𑀭 (iṃdapura), from Sanskrit इन्द्रपुर (indrapura). By surface analysis, इंद्र (indra, “Indra”) + -और (-aur, “city”). Cognate with Marathi इंदूर (indūr).
