Inherited from Prakrit *𑀇𑀁𑀤𑁅𑀭 (*iṃdaura), *𑀇𑀁𑀤𑀯𑀼𑀭 (*iṃdavura), 𑀇𑀁𑀤𑀧𑀼𑀭 (iṃdapura), from Sanskrit इन्द्रपुर (indrapura). Cognate with Hindustani اِنْدَور / इंदौर (indaur).
