[edit]From Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀺𑀤𑀕 (kidaga), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀓𑀺𑀢 (*kita) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit कृत (kṛtá),[1] from Proto-Indo-Aryan *kr̥tás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kr̥tás, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷr̥-tó-s (“done”), from *kʷer- (“to do, make”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬐𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬙𐬀 (kərəta), Kamkata-viri křa. Doublet of कृत (kŕt).
