From Old Marathi 𑘠𑘰𑘽𑘪𑘜𑘹 (dhāṃvaṇe), from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "pmh" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E., from Sanskrit धावति (dhā́vati), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *dʰā́wati, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰā́wati, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰéw-e-ti, from *dʰew- (“to run, flow”). Cognate to Konkani धाव्चे (dhāvce) and Persian دویدن (davīdan).
