Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘭𑘰𑘨𑘰 (pasārā), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀲𑀸𑀭 (pasāra), from Sanskrit प्रसार (prasāra). Related to पसरणे (pasarṇe). Doublet of प्रसार (prasār). Compare Gujarati પસારો (pasāro), Hindustani پَسار (pasār) / पसार (pasār), Sindhi پَسارو / पसारो, Punjabi ਪਸਾਰਾ (pasārā) / پَسارا (pasārā), Nepali पसारो (pasāro), Maithili पसार (pasār) / 𑒣𑒮𑒰𑒩 (pasāra), Odia ପସାର (pôsarô), Bengali পসার (pośar).
