Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘰𑘽𑘐𑘳𑘨𑘜 (pāṃguraṇa), 𑘢𑘰𑘽𑘑𑘳𑘨𑘜 (pāṃghuraṇa), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀁𑀕𑀼𑀭𑀡 (paṃguraṇa). Related to पांघरणे (pāṅgharṇe, to cover, wear, drape).
