Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘣𑘨𑘰𑘯 (pharāḷa), from Sanskrit फलाहार (phalāhāra). Compare Konkani फराळ (pharāḷ) / follar / ಫರಾಳ್ (pharāḷ), Gujarati ફરાળ (pharāḷ), Hindustani پَھلَار (phalār) / फलार (phalār), Odia ଫଳାହାର (phôḷaharô), Marwari फराळ (pharāḷ), Old Punjabi ਫਲੋਹਾਰੁ (phalohāru), Maithili फलार (phalār) / 𑒤𑒪𑒰𑒩 (phalāra), Bengali ফলার (pholar), Middle Bengali ফলার (pholar).
