Etymology

    From Proto-Indo-Iranian *labʰ-, from Proto-Indo-European *lebʰ- (to work, harvest, gain, profit). Compare perhaps Lithuanian lõbis (treasure, wealth), Ancient Greek λᾰ́φῡρᾰ (lắphūră, spoils of war, booty).[1][2][3]
