Etymology

    From Proto-Indo-Iranian *labʰ-, from Proto-Indo-European *lebʰ- (“to work, harvest, gain, profit”). Compare perhaps Lithuanian lõbis (“treasure, wealth”), Ancient Greek λᾰ́φῡρᾰ (lắphūră, “spoils of war, booty”).[1][2][3]
