Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀲𑀼𑀧𑁆𑀧𑀸𑀭 (*suppāra) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-). Third sense is from Marathi सुपारी (supārī).
