    Inherited from Early Assamese কাপোড় (kapöṛo), Sanskrit কৰ্পট (karpaṭa, patched garment). Cognate with Bengali কাপড় (kapoṛ), Sylheti ꠇꠣꠙꠞ (xafor), Chittagonian hoor, Hindi कपड़ा (kapṛā).
