Compound of খুজুটি (khujuṭi) +‎ পাড়া (paṛa); the first element is probably inherited from Sanskrit *क्षुद्रहट्टिक (kṣudrahaṭṭika, retail market), from क्षुद्र (kṣudra) +‎ हट्ट (haṭṭa) +‎ -इक (-ika).[1]
