Named after Nasiruddin Bughra Khan; thus from Middle Bengali বুগরা (bugora) with metathesis, from Classical Persian بغرا (buğrâ), from a Turkic term buɣra (compare Turkish buğra), ultimately from Proto-Turkic *bugura (camel).
