Inherited from Middle Bengali সাঢ়ে (saṛhe), from Old Bengali সাঢে (sāḍhe), genitive of সাঢ (sāḍha), from Prakrit *𑀲𑀸𑀟𑁆𑀠 (*sāḍḍha), from Sanskrit सार्ध (sārdha, “plus a half”), from स (sa, “with”) +‎ अर्ध (ardha​, “half”). Cognate with Assamese চাৰে (sare), Odia ସାଢ଼େ (saṛhe), Gujarati સાડા (sāḍā /⁠sāṛā⁠/), Punjabi ਸਾਢ (sāḍh), Sindhi سآڍُ (sāḍhu), Kashmiri سآڈ (sāḍ), Bhadrawahi साढो (sāḍho), Nepali साड़े (sāṛe), साढ़े (sāṛhe), Awadhi साढ़े (sāṛhe), Hindustani साढ़े (sāṛhe) / ساڑھے (sāṛhe), Marathi साढे (sāḍhe), साडे (sāḍe), Konkani साडे (sāḍe), साडि (sāḍi).
