Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀸 (kacchā), from Sanskrit कक्ष्या (kakṣyā, “loincloth”), from कक्ष (kakṣa, “groin, armpit”). Cognate with Bengali কাছা (kacha) and Hindi कच्छा (kacchā).
