[edit]Feminine of કોઠો (koṭho), inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑁄𑀝𑁆𑀞 (koṭṭha), from Sanskrit कोष्ठ (kṓṣṭha), from Proto-Indo-European *kus-t(ʰ)-ōd-, a derivative of *(s)kewH- (“to hide, cover”). Cognate with Bengali কুঠি (kuṭhi), Hindustani کوٹھی / कोठी (koṭhī), Odia କୋଠି (koṭhi), and Sindhi ڪوٺيِ / कोठी (koṭhī).

[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀯𑀺𑀢𑁆𑀣 (kavittha), from Sanskrit कपित्थ (kapittha), further etymology is uncertain. Doublet of કપિત્થ (kapitth). Cognate with Bengali কয়েথ (koẏeth), Hindi कैथा (kaithā), Odia କଇଥ (kaitha), and Sindhi ڪويٽ / कवीटु (kavīṭu)
