[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀣𑀼𑀁𑀪𑀭𑀻 (kutthuṃbharī), from Sanskrit कुस्तुम्बरी (kustumbarī), from Dravidian. Cognate with Indo-Aryan: Marathi कोथिंबीर (kothimbīr) and Konkani कोतमीर (kōtmīr). Compare Dravidian: Malayalam കൊത്തമല്ലി (kottamalli), Tamil கொத்தமல்லி (kottamalli), and Telugu కొతిమిరి (kotimiri); whence Austronesian: Javanese ꦏꦼꦠꦸꦩ꧀ꦧꦂ (ketumbar) and Malay ketumbar.
