Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀓𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀸 (kacchā), from Sanskrit कक्ष्या (kakṣyā, loincloth), from कक्ष (kakṣa, groin, armpit). Cognate with Bengali কাছা (kacha) and Hindi कच्छा (kacchā).
