Particularly: “Cognate with గుంపు (gumpu, “group”), Tamil குமி (kumi, “to accumulate, crowd”), Malayalam കുമി (kumi, “heap, stack, pile”), കുവിക (kuvika​, “to be assembled”), Kannada ಗುಮಿ (gumi, “heap, crowd”).[1] Also note similarities to Japanese 組む (kumu, “to put together, intertwine”) and 組 (kumi, “class, group”); whether this is coincidence or remnants of an ancient Southern Eurasian substrate is unknown.”
