From Sanskrit ऐश्वर्य (aiśvarya, power, authority; supremacy, sovereignty; wealth); possibly via Old Khmer °aiśvara (power; supremacy). Cognate with Modern ឰសូរ (ʼaysou), ឰសូរ្យ (ʼaisory), អៃសូរ (ʼaysou), អៃសូរ្យ (ʼaysouyɔɔ). Compare Pali issariya, from which Thai อิสริยะ derives.
