Etymology

From Middle Chinese (MC 'jit, “one”). Cognate with Thai เอ็ด (èt), Shan ဢဵတ်း (ʼáet), Ahom 𑜒𑜢𑜄𑜫 (ʼit), Bouyei idt, Zhuang it.

Numeral

ເອັດ (ʼet)

  1. one (when used as part of another numeral – eleven, twenty-one, etc.)
    ສິບເອັດ (sip ʼet) eleven
    ສາມສິບເອັດ (sām sip ʼet) thirty-one
