Etymology 1

[edit]
This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.
Particularly: “MED splits the "brood, nest", "pommel, withers", and "sterile, dormant" senses into three different entries, implying three different etymons. STEDT doesn't give etymology to any of them (mruṁ "conceal one's self, hide, keep still", "raised front part of saddle", no mention of "brood, nest"), and Luce 1981 mentions none of them.”
