Etymology

Origin is uncertain. Perhaps formed by prefixing the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Georgian-Zan root *x- (to touch) with the affix *(s)a- (affix indicating designation, purpose), thus it would literally mean "that which is touched".

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /saxe/, [saχe]
  • Hyphenation: სა‧ხე

Noun

სახე (saxe) (plural სახეები)

  1. (anatomy) face
