From Old Georgian უღელი (uɣeli), from Proto-Kartvelian *uɣ- (yoke); compare Mingrelian უღუ (uɣu) and Svan უ̂ღჳა (ûɣwa). Ultimately borrowed from Proto-Indo-European *yugóm; compare also Middle Persian ywg (juğ, yoke) (< Proto-Indo-Iranian *yugám)
