Suffix

을지 (-eulji)

  1. Connects the posterior clause with a vague question about the prior one, in the future tense.
    이제 무엇을 해서 먹고 살지 걱정태산이다.
    ije mueoseul haeseo meokgo salji geokjeong'i taesanida.
    How would I earn my living now? I'm very worried.
  2. An intimate style interrogative suffix with a vague question, in the future tense; usually appears in an indirect quotation.
    여행, 어디로 갈지정했?
    yeohaeng, eodiro galjineun jeonghaenni?
    Did you plan where to go?

Usage notes

The suffix —ᆯ지 (-lji) takes the sequential form of a verb, an adjective, or 이다 (ida, “to be”).
