Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *h₂mbʰi-kʷol-os; sychronically, ἀμφί (amphí, “about”) + πέλω (pélō, “to go”) + -ος (-os). Cognate with Mycenaean Greek 𐀀𐀠𐀦𐀫 (a-pi-qo-ro), Sanskrit अभिचर (abhicara, “servant”), Latin anculus (“servant”).
