Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

The comparison with Hittite [script needed] (ḫatuki-, terrible) and Sanskrit तुज्य (tujya, to be pushed, impelled) convinces both formally and semantically, suggesting a derivation from Proto-Indo-European *h₂tug- (to be terrified).
