From ὑποστρώννυμι (hupostrṓnnumi) +‎ -μα (-ma), alternative spelling of ὑποστορέννυμι (hupostorénnumi, spread under) (from ῠ̔πο- (hupo-, beneath, under) +‎ στορέννυμι (storénnumi, spread, strew)).
