Usage notes[edit]

Part of Hakata-ben, Japanese dialects. Used particularly often in the Chikuzen (West Fukuoka Prefecture) and Hikugo areas (South Fukuoka Prefecture), except for Kitakyushu. There is nothing above or beyond something described as chikappai. Chikappai kawaii or chikappai kakkoii is the ultimate compliment to members of the opposite sex. Chikappai oishī should be reserved for describing only the most delicious of foods.
