[edit]Abbreviation of モーターバイク (mōtābaiku), from English motorbike, with probable influence from bike.[1][2] Alternatively, directly from English bike.[3][4]

- This is a term that is subject to 平板化 (heibanka, “heiban-ification; accent leveling”), wherein accented loanwords become unaccented, i.e. pronounced with a 平板式 (heiban-shiki, “flat-style”) accent pattern, especially in the speech of younger people.[6]
