Etymology[edit]
From 눈 (nun, “snow”) + 사람 (saram, “person”). Compare 설인 (雪人, seorin, “yeti”).

- Phonetic hangul: [눈(ː)싸람]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
